ch 8 and 14. Fiction does not mean a story is fake or untrue, rather, it can illuminate truth making what we percieve as reality. There are several types of fiction used with children: contemporary realistic fiction,, historical fiction, fantasy, and science fiction. I love fiction. One of my favorite movies is the wizard of oz.
The Puppy Place by Ellen Miles. Lizzie and Charles Peterson can't wait to get a puppy but until then they foster dogs to find them perfect homes. A dog named Skipper and three new puppies arrive at the local dog shelter and lizzie and Charles think they can take care of them. It ends up being a challange.
Socks by Beverly Cleary. This chapter book is a hilarios portrait of life with a baby from a cat's point of view. The cat lives with a young couple called the Brickers who play with him, pet him, feed him treats and always has time for him until a new baby enters the picture.
