Ch. 7 Picture books are a combination of literature and fine arts into a unique literary form. Even books writen for young children are expected to be well written. Age is taken into account but the writing is not simplistic, choppy or condescending to children. Hide and seek is one of my favorite books, it's a simple picture book with bears playing hide and seek.
Hide and seek by Susanna Gretz. This adorable picture book is about little bears playing hide and seek, trying to find louise. They can't find her anywher! She hides in a book shelf behind some books, she hides in a bathtub and is smothered by clothes, she hides in a trash can and is not very happy, she gets irritated and goes to bed. They finally find her sleeping comfortably.
10 Fat Turkeys is a comedy picture book by Tony Johnston. This funny story is about 10 turkeys sitting in a tree all playing around. One by one each turkey falls off. At the end of the story all the turkeys are off the tree and need a ladder to climb back up again.
